Stoli Group launches Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Bourbon in the UK

The Stoli Group has announced the release of Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Bourbon, produced by Kentucky Owl Whiskey

In the state of Kentucky lies Bardstown, the Bourbon capital of the world and home of Kentucky Owl. Introducing Kentucky Owl The Wiseman, the latest ultra premium Bourbon expression to be launched in the UK.

Founded in 1879 by Charles M Dedman, Kentucky Owl whiskey became so popular it was often referred to as “the Wise man’s choice” and it was this that has inspired the brand’s latest edition today, expertly blended by legendary Master Blender, John Rhea who has spent 40 years making and perfecting Bourbon. In 2016 he was inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame, of which there is no higher honour.

On joining Kentucky Owl in June of last year, Rhea proclaimed that “the one thing” to bring him out of retirement was the “opportunity to serve as a steward to Kentucky Owl”, and to lay the foundations for one of the state’s most revered Bourbon brands.

When speaking about the Whiskey itself, Rhea has described Kentucky Owl The Wiseman as “an artful balance of soft wheat and spicy high-rye that provides a smooth but complex bourbon”. He suggests that it can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, with soda or in a cocktail, such as a classic Manhattan with sweet vermouth and bitters.

The blend in question is a combination of Kentucky Owl 4-year old wheat and high-rye Bourbons with 5 ½ and 8 ½ year old Kentucky-sourced Bourbons. Rhea describes the journey he crafted when designing the premium blend: “it leads with a beautiful caramel flavour and aroma, followed by notes of allspice, citrus fruit and a nudge of oak.”

Stoli Group global CEO Damian McKinney described the release of Kentucky Owl The Wiseman as “the beginning of the next chapter”. Stoli Group purchased the brand in 2017, adding to a portfolio of spirits including Tulchan Gin, Bayou Rum and Elit Vodka.

The 45.4% ABV Bourbon blend retails at £60 for a 70cl bottle and will be available for online purchase at Master of Malt, Hedonism, Royal Mile Whiskies, Milroy’s, Amazon and other good retailers from early April. It is distributed in the UK by Amber Beverage UK.
