Sovereign Beverage Company signs exclusive global export deal for Thatchers Cider

Sovereign Beverage Company and Thatchers have inked a deal giving the exporter exclusivity on the global distribution of Thatchers Cider.

Speaking to dbThatchers’ sales director Chris Milton said: “Partnering with Sovereign Beverage Company gives us a great opportunity to grow our brands internationally, building on the success we’ve achieved during the last decade in over 20 overseas markets. Sovereign have demonstrated to us that they truly understand the brand values that are central to our ethos, and with their proven track record we’re hugely excited about what lies ahead.”

Thatchers Cider joins other British drinks companies including Greene King, Robinsons Brewery and Carlsberg Marstons by signing an exclusive export distribution deal with Blackburn-based Sovereign Beverage Company.

Milton pointed out: “We’ve been successfully exporting our products abroad since 2008 and have a strong global fanbase in over 20 countries. We’ve taken the decision to work with Sovereign to further build our brand internationally, in particular in North & South America where we currently have no presence.”

First launched in 1904, Thatchers Cider has been producing authentic Somerset cider at Myrtle Farm for over 115 years. The company has been in the Thatchers family for four generations and is now under the stewardship of Martin Thatcher.

Sovereign Beverage Company founder, and managing director David Davies told db“Our partnership with Thatchers Cider is the result of months of hard work from the team. We are thrilled to be working with the UK’s number one independent family cider company, and are excited to bring their incredible, award-winning products to a global marketplace.”

Davies added: “We’re delighted to be adding Thatchers Cider to our portfolio of premium brands. The UK is a world leader in cider production and the prospect of increasing global awareness of this heritage through the distribution of Thatchers Cider is an exciting one. We are pleased to share that we have already hit the ground running with Thatchers Gold now available in Italy”.
