André Simon Awards announces 2021 longlist
The longlist has been announced for the André Simon Food & Drink Book Awards, which is now in its 43rd year.
Each year the André Simon Trustees are guided by independent assessors. This year they are Yemisi Aribisala, a Nigerian born writer and artist for the food books and Rose Murray Brown MW for the drink books. A shortlist will be announced in the New Year.
Eventually, the longlist will be narrowed down to just one winning book for food and one of for drink.
Nicholas Lander, Chair André Simon Food & Drink Book Award, said of the longlist:
“This year saw the most impressive number of books in the food and drink categories, selected from 160 entries. Offerings span from the A-Z of pasta to saving endangered foods, from the wines of Santorini to the ancient origins of cider, showcasing both new and established writers. Our congratulations and thanks to the authors, publishers and everybody involved.”
Rose Murray Brown MW will be judging the drinks category this year. One of just 151 female Masters of Wine in the world, Rose Murray Brown MW offers bespoke events, wine courses & escorted wine tours across Scotland & northern England.
