Borgogno to be distributed by OenoGroup in the UK

The oldest continuously operating Barolo producer, Borgogno, has joined OenoGroup’s Italian portfolio for exclusive distribution in the UK.

Founded in 1761, its iconic and much-visited wine-making facility is still located right in the heart of the town of Barolo itself. Borgogno became, as it remains, synonymous with Italian history in 1861, when its wines were chosen to accompany the banquet to celebrate the Unification of Italy.

Under the ownership and direction of the talented winemaker, Andrea Farinetti, Borgogno has charted a steep upward trajectory in recent vintages, with a renewed focus on its fabulous single-vineyard wines. These are located in some of Barolo’s leading MGAs (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive ) or climats, notably Cannubi, Liste and Fossati.

The current releases are the deeply sensual 2015s, with the remarkably impressive 2016s (that I tasted recently in Barolo) to follow.

The partnership will ensure that OenoGroup has an exclusive distribution of Barolo’s single-vineyard wines in the UK market, and will also carry the full range from the winery which includes their exciting Timorasso whites from Derthona and Riesling, as well as older vintages of the Riservas, for which the winery is rightly famous, and the affably drinkable Nebbiolo blend called ‘No Name’.

Andrea Farinetti commented, to db “We are thrilled to have Oeno leading our import and distribution strategy in the UK. Oeno is clearly one of the leading emerging players in this market and is perfectly positioned to maximize the image and the potential of our historical brand with a unique go-to-market strategy. Our decision to cultivate a partnership with Oeno was based on their wide range of essential knowledge and resources within the wine industry. With their expertise and our enduring dedication to the fine wine market, our wines will find new homes in the UK market for the years to come”.
