Long Dai announces ‘outstanding potential’ of 2019 vintage
Domaine de Long Dai, the Chinese outpost of Château Lafite in Shandong, has recently released its 2019 vintage.
According to Olivier Trégoat, technical director of DBR (Lafite) properties outside Bordeaux, the 2019 vintage is the third successful vintage for the winery. He said: “2019 was a hot and dry vintage in Shandong Province. Compared with the previous two vintages, 2019 finally shows a rich fruity aroma, a more complex taste, and excellent structure, with delicate, elegant tannins. It has outstanding potential.”
During the flowering period in June, the vineyard was bathed in sunshine and the fruit quality was subsequently good. “The weather was dry in summer. To ensure the ripeness of the fruit, we worked tirelessly on irrigation to ensure sufficient moisture,” recalled Denise Cosentino, technical director at Long Dai. “We have carried out intensive harvesting, the whole process is relatively close, which means that the grapes mature in a short time.”
The harvest for the 2019 vintage began on 21 September and ended on 18 October.
The wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Marselan. According to the winery, it has a very balanced structure and rich aromas of black fruits and pleasant spices.
The wine launches this month and is distributed by Pernod Ricard China.
