Código 1530 releases one of the most expensive Tequilas in the world
Tequila brand Código 1530 has released one of the rarest and most expensive Tequilas on the market, priced at US$3,300 a bottle.
The exclusive 13-year-aged añejo tequila is Código 1530’s first offering to be aged in a Cognac cask.
Fully ripe agave and rock-filtered water were used in the making of this Tequila, with no other sugars, colours or flavourings. Tasting notes include sweet vanilla with cocoa powder and cinnamon, followed by earthy peat and exotic spices.
Only 350 bottles of the spirit have been produced, and at US$3,300 a pop, it is one of the rarest Tequilas on the market.
Co-founder Federico Vaughan said of the launch: “Our 13-year Añejo is in its own category. We are taking our already beautifully aged Extra Añejo, and finishing it in French Cognac casks for another 6 months, which gives it a truly unique and distinguished taste.”
Código’s latest creation comes boxed in locally sourced, hand-crafted wood from Amatitán, Mexico, where the brand is based.
