Sarah Michelle Gellar teams up with Yellow Tail on low alcohol wine range
Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar has teamed up with Australian wine brand Yellow Tail on a range of low alcohol wines.
As reported by Wine Spectator, Gellar has partnered with Yellow Tail on Pure Bright, a low alcohol range of white wines priced at US$7 per bottle.
Part of the millennial-friendly “better for you” movement, the Pure Bright range includes an Australian Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.
The Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio contain 80 calories per glass and weigh in at just 8.5% alcohol, while the Chardonnay is 85 calories a glass and 9.6% ABV.
The Cruel Intentions star fell in love with Australian whites while filming there. “I think for me it was more about the experience of being able to document a time and place with taste,” Gellar told Wine Spectator.
“You learn a lot about a culture, a city and a country based on what they drink. The Pure Bright line-up has a very specific flavour profile. Yellow Tail kept the essence that makes a wine beautiful,” she added.
“Until now, lower calorie wines have been seen as light on flavour. That was a trade-off we weren’t willing to make,” John Casella, managing director Yellow Tail’s parent company, Casella Family Brands, said in a statement.
“We took the opposite approach, ensuring great taste and then working our way backwards to deliver on making it lighter,” he added.
