If you’re wondering how different the drinking cultures are in the United Kingdom and the United States, then one woman has perfectly highlighted the differences in a hilarious video that has gone viral on TikTok.
Holly Hudson, a writer and comedian, first plays someone from the US who is evidently very into their personal training sessions. Despite hearing of upcoming plans including a Christmas party and her birthday, the dedicated fitness guru sticks to her guns and turns down extra drinks.
Meanwhile, the British character’s after work drinks descend into chaos before a children’s party leads to her getting black out drunk.
Apparently, the perception is that us Brits like a drink or two…
If you really want to put the whole thing to bed, though, an animated chart recently revealed the countries that drank the most beer over the last 50 years.
Remarkably, the chart, which takes its data from the World Health Organization Global Health Observatory and counts drinkers over 15 years of age, revealed that Seychelles has been the most prolific beer consumer per capita since 2014. In 2019, the island – which has a recorded population of 97,625 – drank 10.93 litres of beer per capita, according to the data.
