Tempus Two boosts UK distribution

Australian wine brand Tempus Two is boosting the distribution of its premium Quartz Series, after securing new listings with Tesco and Morrisons.

The Quartz range comprises a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Shiraz, which were launched into UK retail in September 2019.

This rollout will see its Quartz Sauvignon Blanc and Quartz Shiraz in Tesco stores nationwide from 5 April (RRP: £9), with the Quartz Chardonnay and Quartz Shiraz available from Morrisons (RRP:£9).

All Quartz series wines are also currently available in Sainsbury’s.

The move sees the Australian Vintage owned Tempus Two brand continuing to expand its global presence through the luxury UK drinks market where it is enjoying sustained growth, the company said.

Australian Vintage’s chief operating officer Julian Dyer described widening the distribution of the Quartz series into the two retailers was exciting and allowed the company to  continue to build Tempus Two’s presence in the UK.

“Tempus Two is now one of the fastest growing brands in the UK grocery channel, seeing 103.8% year on year growth and is now worth nearly £4m in the UK1, so our new listings are the perfect next step in continuing our success,” he said.

“This expansion is part of our wider strategy of maintaining our position as an aspirational and contemporary brand within the category and delivering a strong portfolio of quality wines that meet our customer’s needs and provide unique drinking experiences. Our premium product portfolio adds a touch of sophistication and elegance to social occasions and celebrations, and we are incredibly proud to be able to inspire new customers to enjoy our wines.”

The Tempus Two Quartz range followed the premium Silver series which was launched into the UK market in September 2017. It was designed to help consumers explore the vertical range and “impart a level of style and sophistication to everyday drinking“.

Boosting the presence of Tempus Two within the UK market is part of the company’s strategy to ensure Australian Vintage has a strong branded portfolio and attract a new customer.

Speaking to db at the time, winemaker Andrew Duff said the team was focusing on a drier wine style in its red wines rather than going for ‘over the top’ oak, and concentrating on the purity of the fruit.

The company describes Tempus Two Quartz Chardonnay as an aromatic white wine “with fruity citrus and white peach aromas that perfectly balance its crisp, clean finish”, while the Quartz Shiraz “exudes luscious ripe berry flavours, showing itself to be an elegant and flavoursome wine with generous length and a smooth finish”.  The Sauvignon Blanc, has “lifted grapefruit and gooseberry notes with a smooth and a clean herbaceous finish”, it adds.
