Snoop Dogg adds to wine range with California rosé

American rapper Snoop Dogg has added to his 19 Crimes wine range with the launch of a California rosé, which he’s hoping will be the sip of the summer.

The bubble gum pink, easy drinking Snoop Cali Rosé is made from a blend of 75% Zinfandel, 20% Grenache and 5% Pinot Noir.

According to Snoop, the pink drop offers aromas of ripe strawberry and rose petals, with fresh raspberries, strawberries and red cherries on the palate. Hoping to appeal to a moderate drinking crowd, the wine’s ABV is just 10.7%.

“We did it big with 19 Crimes Cali Red, so you know we had to do it again – and this time, I was thinking pink. I can’t wait for everyone to sip on my Snoop Cali Rosé and bring those fresh feels from spring into summer and beyond.

“I hope when you open a bottle of this wine you take a little mind trip to my Cali home. This is how we rosé the Snoop Dogg way,” the rapper said.

Snoop Dogg entered the wine game last April with the launch of Snoop Cali Red, made in collaboration with popular Australian wine brand 19 Crimes, owned by Treasury Wine Estates.

The wine is a blend of 65% Petite Syrah, 30% Zinfandel, and 5% Merlot form Lodi with an RRP of US$12.

“Snoop has been a dream collaborator that has taken 19 Crimes Snoop Cali Red to the top of the charts. We can’t wait for this second release to hit our loyal 19 Crimes fan base and see how they rosé with Snoop Cali Rosé.

“This is 19 Crimes’ first California rosé and we are already seeing high demand from our retail partners to get it in store as soon as we possibly can,” John Wardley, TWE’s marketing vice president Americas, said of the partnership.

Treasury Wine Estates chose to collaborate with Snoop Dogg as the firm felt he “embodies the same spirit of rule breaking, culture creating and overcoming adversity that inspired 19 Crimes’ original cast of rebellious heroes.”

The brand pays homage to the thousands of British men and women who were exiled to Australia in the 18th century for committing one or more of the 19 crimes. While some of the crimes, like assault and arson, were serious, others were less so. You could be packed off to Australia for uprooting plants or impersonating an Egyptian.

Inspired by “the convicts turned colonists that built Australia”, 19 Crimes was one of the first wine brands to carry an augmented reality label.
