Glasgow pub team recreates East 17 music video
The bartending team at The Gate pub in Glasgow’s East End Quarter have recreated East 17’s Christmas hit Stay Another Day to help promote their new range of bottled cocktails.
Snow flies across the screen. Four men dressed all in white with festive fur hoods look intensely into the camera while slow and very familiar 90s music plays. And then the lyrics come in: “Baby if you’ve got to go away…”.
But hang on, these aren’t the members of pop group East 17. This is the bartending team at The Gate, a pub in Glasgow’s East End Quarter that has recreated the famous pop video.
In response to the latest restrictions on hospitality businesses across Scotland, The Gate has come up with this hilarious – and surprisingly accurate – recreation of the original music video to Stay Another Day, complete with corresponding white and black outfits and synchronised dance moves.
Acting as a promotional video for the pub’s new finish at home cocktails to order from glasgowcocktails.co.uk, ‘Please come back another day’ contains flying cocktails and a cameo from the Scottish first minister giving a thumbs up – so it’s Sturgeon approved.
The performance was designed to bring some Christmas cheer to customers who are unable to come into the pub for a drink this festive season, and to thank all who have supported the business through what has been a very difficult year.
Let’s just hope that the newly formed East G4 stick around for some more festive covers.
