Gaucho, M and Benares are feeding the NHS frontline

London steakhouses Gaucho and M, and high-end Indian restaurant Benares are delivering thousands of meals to NHS frontline staff across the UK capital.

One of the dishes being made for the NHS frontline by Gaucho is Argentine fillet steak with triple cooked chips

Gaucho and M began their initiative yesterday, which will see the two steakhouse chains cook and deliver a thousand meals a week to NHS staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in southeast London and The Nightingale Hospital at ExCel in east London.

The duo have partnered with the Hildon Foundation and Deliveroo to deliver the meals twice a day along with bottles of Hildon water.

Among the dishes being delivered to frontline workers are the M burger with cheese, bacon jam and pickles; sticky pork bao buns with kimchi mayo; crab sandos with yuzu mayo; and Argentine fillet steak with triple cooked chips.

Across town, high-end Indian restaurant Benares in Mayfair has teamed up with London-based finance firm Market Financial Solutions (MFS) to provide freshly cooked hot meals to NHS staff.

The meals are being delivered daily to frontline workers at hospitals in Hammersmith, Charing Cross, Chelsea & Westminster and St Mary’s Paddington, and also to NHS medical centres in Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Victoria.

“The NHS is under enormous stress at the moment. So, given our close relationship with Benares, we are delighted to be working with them to support our crucial frontline staff. They deserve freshly cooked hot meals.

“If there is one positive thing to come from this health crisis, it is the community spirit currently on show. Regardless of sector, businesses are rallying together to help those in need,” Tiba Raja, director of MFS, said.

M is also hosting an NHS appreciation dinner on 28 September at M Threadneedle St for 200 NHS frontline doctors and nurses and their partners.

“I am delighted that we are able to show our massive appreciation for the NHS in our own small way by both providing meals for frontline workers and creating a special dinner of appreciation once the lockdown rules have relaxed,” said Martin Williams CEO of Gaucho and M Restaurants.
