New ‘reverse microwave’ gadget cools wine in three minutes
Silicon Valley thermal engineering specialist Matrix Industries is developing a drinks cooler called Juno that can chill a wine bottle in three minutes.
Called Juno, the product is currently at the testing stage, having been previewed at tech show CES in Las Vegas this month.
The products was developed in order to rapidly chill white and red wine to “sommelier-recommended temperatures” using “reverse microwave technology”.
The gadget is capable of chilling a full size, 75cl bottle of white wine to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) in just three minutes, while a bottle of beer can be cooled to the correct serving temperature in less than a minute.
Juno can also be used to chill soft drinks include coffee and canned fizzy drinks.
The opening at the top permits the insertion of most beverage vessels, from cans to bottles of sparkling wine.
The gadget, which will be available in a range of custom colour options, has a coloured LED bar down the side which allows consumers to check on the status of the their drink.
It features just three controls, which come pre-set for the recommended red and white wine temperatures, with the option to customise your preferred chilling level.
Matrix has also developed a series of tumblers which can be safely inserted into the Juno and then carried on-the-go. They will be available in a 16oz and 32oz capacity.
The device is expected to be available for retail in October this year.
