Anheuser-Busch family saga to be turned into TV drama
A new TV drama called Under the Influence about five generations of the famous Anheuser-Busch brewing dynasty is in the pipeline.
Under the Influence is based on an unauthorised 1991 book of the same name and will chronicle the Anheuser-Busch family, best known for brewing Budweiser, over five generations.
According to the New York Post, the saga will follow the family’s rise from being lowly German immigrants to a wealthy dynasty dominating America’s beer market, and the power struggles along the way as they battle for control over the brewery.
The unauthorised book the show will be based on explores the “opportunism, unbridled power, family conflict and sex scandals behind the red, white and blue logo.”
The show has yet to recruit a writer or cast, but it will be produced by 101 Studios, the company behind Paramount’s popular Western dramaYellowstone, starring Kevin Costner.
