Highland Park Presents Two New Whiskies in HK
The famous whisky producer has launched two of its latest releases in Hong Kong, the finale of its acclaimed ‘Viking Legend’ series and a limited edition 26 year-old malt.
Released this autumn, the highly-anticipated new bottles from Highland Park in Hong Kong are namely the “Valfather” and the “Highland Park 26 Year old –Søren Solkær 26 Years of Photography” limited edition whisky.
Valfather completes the three-part Viking Legend series inspired by the Orkney-based distillery’s Norse history. For this release, the brand partnered with Danish designer, Jim Lyngvild, to create the packaging for the final addition to the trilogy.
The Viking Legend series uses some of the distillery’s 100% peated malt. As the follow-up to the highly sought-after ‘Valkyrie’ and ‘Valknut’ release, Gordon Motion, master whisky maker for Highland Park, said: “Valfather is the smokiest of the series. As well as our hallmark aromatic peat smoke, its taste profile is creamy vanilla, toasted cedar wood with a long floral aromatic finish offset by notes of crisp apple and sweet fragrant pear.”
Another exciting addition is the latest Søren edition of Highland Park 26 year-old. For this release, the single malt Scotch distiller worked in partnership with renowned Danish photographer, Søren Solkær, to bring together a 26 year-old whisky and a book of photography celebrating his career which also spans 26 years. Best known for his portraits of world famous musicians including Björk, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, David Lynch, The Arctic Monkeys, R.E.M. and U2, Solkær has worked with the Orkney-based distillery since 2016 to capture the brand’s “Viking Soul” image.
The whisky has an ABV of 40.5% and has been matured predominantly in Sherry-seasoned American oak casks and first fill Bourbon casks, resulting in a rich and spicy flavour with light heathery peat smoke and a long finish.
A limited quantity of Highland Park Valfather and Highland Park 26 Year old – Søren Solkær 26 Years of Photography” is now available at exclusive outlets, with a recommended retail price of HK$588 and HK$5,950 respectively.
