Southwark Cathedral to host memorial service for Simon Leschallas
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Simon Leschallas will take place at 11am on Thursday 17 October at London’s Southwark Cathedral, followed by a drinks reception.
Simon, a much-loved character in the UK drinks trade, died suddenly aged 64 at home on 18 July, leaving behind his wife and young family.
Described as a “great character” and “absolute star” by former colleagues, Simon most notably worked as brand ambassador for Champagne Bollinger in the UK, and later Champagne Charles Heidsieck, making him a specialist in Champagne promotion in Britain, particularly through tie-ups with major sporting events, from golf to rugby and racing.
Simon was also a past master of the Vintners’ Company and the Worshipful Company of Distillers, as well as a trustee of the Wine Trade Sports Club.
