Cat café Catlantis to open in London

We’ve had an owl bar in Soho and a pop-up pub staffed by dogs, and now there is news (or should we say mews) of a cat café called Catlantis opening in London.

 As reported by Londonist, Catlantis is set to open in Marylebone this month to give Londoners who aren’t able to keep pets the chance to stroke some friendly moggies over a cup of coffee.

This isn’t the first feline focused café in the capital – Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in Bethnal Green has been thriving since it opened in 2014.

Catlantis will be home to up to 15 rescue cats fostered from a local shelter and a portion of the revenue generated from the venue will be donated to Cats Protection, which provides rescue cats with food, veterinary treatment and care.

“One of the reasons for owning a pet is that makes us happier, however, not everyone can afford to own a pet at home due to the working hours and budget,” said a statement on the Catlantis website.

“The café is coming up with various solutions to make the cats feel they are in a homely environment. Soon you will be able to cosy up with a cup of tea while playing with furry feline friends,” it added.

Few specifics about the café have been revealed, though it’s keen to do its bit for the planet, and will be serving Fairtrade coffee, tea and juices.
