Eurostar launches ‘press for Champagne’ button
Diner deluxe Bob Bob Ricard pioneered the ‘press for Champagne’ concept and now the Eurostar is following suit with a button of its own to mark its 25thbirthday.
The Eurostar turns 25 this November. To celebrate, certain services are giving away free Champagne
The speedy train service is trialling a ‘press for Champagne’ button from today on certain routes to mark 100 days until its 25thanniversary.
A free glass of Champers will be served to the first 25 passengers on selected trains who use the button, which will be available on Eurostar’s smartphone app on Tuesday 6 August then every Friday for the rest of the month.
Services offering the ‘press for Champagne’ feature include the 5.01pm departure from London to Paris; the 5.13pm departure from Paris to London; and the 5.16pm departure from London to Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
The first Eurostar train left London for Paris on November 14 1994. Since then its popularity has blossomed – 11 million passengers travelled in the Eurostar last year.
“For 25 years Eurostar has provided customers with a fast and enjoyable way to travel. We’re trialling a ‘press for Champagne’ button this summer to offer travellers a chance to join in the celebrations and make their trip even more special,” said Eurostar’s chief customer officer, Marc Noaro.
