Kylie Jenner applies for trademarks for wine, spirits, non-alcoholic cocktails, and beer
The world’s youngest billionaire Kylie Jenner is just over the US’ legal drinking age, but she’s already planning to break into the alcohol business.
21-year-old model and Instagram mogul Kylie Jenner has filed a series of trademarks that would allow her to set up all manner of drinks brands, from a wine label to her own cocktail bar.
She applied for trademarks for both “Kylie Jenner” and “Kylie” last week, two of which can be used for wine, beer, RTD cocktail or spirits labels, non-alcoholic cocktail bases and mixers. She has also applied to use the mark for restaurants, bars and cocktail lounges, reports TMZ.
The Kylie name is already a billion-dollar brand thanks to Kylie Cosmetics, the make-up business which propelled her into Forbes‘ annual list of the world’s richest people in 2019.
She is not the first member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan to venture into drinks. Khloe Kardashian released a sparkling liqueur in 2014 – described as blend of fruit juices, white wine, vodka and Cognac infused with “Champagne-like bubbles” – produced by the US-based Heaven Hill Distilleries.
Celebrities are increasingly dipping their toes into the drinks trade. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds bought a controlling stake in US spirits label Aviation Gin in 2018, while MMA fighter Conor McGregor has also launched his own Irish whiskey label. Within the past two years stars from Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Sting, to ex-cricketer Ian Botham, have all started their own drinks ventures.
