The Macallan unveils new whisky

Scotch whisky distillery The Macallan has announced the addition of a new single malt to its range – ‘The Macallan Estate’ – produced from the estate’s own barley.

The whisky is made from barley grown at the Easter Elchies estate. The crop from the estate is distilled just once a year, with every harvest, and its use is normally limited to the most exclusive and sought-after malts produced by The Macallan.

The distillery explained that the new malt was a “tribute” to its heritage, the original estate and its surroundings near the banks of the River Spey.

“With its wonderful sweet citrus hints and warming wood spice, The Macallan Estate is a rich, satisfying and complex spirit that pays homage to the fertile Speyside lands where The Macallan is located and celebrates the unrivalled craftsmanship for which we have been known since 1824.”

The new malt will be available from selected retailers from July with an RRP of £195 per bottle.
