Vinventions to host wine closures masterclass at 2019 ASI Competition

Closure manufacturer Vinventions will host a tasting exploring the role of specialist wine closures in partnership with Fontanafredda for attendees of this year’s ASI Contest of the Best Sommelier of the World, held this week in Antwerp, Belgium.

The ASI Best Sommelier of the World competition will take place from 10-15th March in Antwerp, Belgium.

The masterclass will offer sommeliers taking part in the competition to “taste the difference” that closures can have on a wine’s development, based on different and precise oxygen transmission rates (OTR).

The tasting will feature the same wine under the same conditions, but with one difference: the closure. The intention is not to prove that one closure is superior to another, but to underline the importance and impact of each closure and their different permeabilities.

“The amount of oxygen released to the wine post-bottling is crucial and this is one of the cornerstones of our Nomacorc Green Line closures,” said Edina Kiss, Nomacorc brand manager at Vinventions. “We strongly believe in the importance of oxygen management and we think the best proof is in the glass. The consistent and controlled oxygen ingress ensures the desired wine preservation and keeps wine evolution under control.”

The Vinventions & Fontanafredda Masterclass is open for ASI Sommelier candidates attending the program and will take place on Friday, 15 March at 10.15am at the Antwerp Diamond Kring.
