Macallan sets another milestone
Scotch whisky auction house Whisky Auctioneer has said that its sale of The Macallan Lalique Six Pillars Collection set a new record for Scotch sold online.
The collection of four bottles of the 50-60 year old malts in Lalique decanters were sold across four lots for a combined total of £296,500.
This exceeds the £272,000 realised by four bottles from the same series sold by Whisky Auctioneer in November last year.
The sale itself made £2.6 million in total, with £850,000 being raised by various lots of The Macallan on offer.
Following the numerous records set by bottles of The Macallan over the course of last year, this is a further sign that demand for rare whiskies is not slowing down.
At the same sale a Hibiki Arita Decanter sold for £17,500 and a Bruichladdich 1960 Sherry Cask 100 Proof for £10,000.
