Edible garnish perfumes launched
Forget twist of lemon or a wedge of lime, the only garnish to be seen with this season is a spray-on one, according to alcoholic sweet brand Smith & Sinclair.
Smith & Sinclair has launched a range of three edible perfume garnishes
The brand, which bills itself as “the Willy Wonka for adults”, has launched a range of three edible fragrances designed to enhance the flavour of cocktails.
Could spray-on garnishes replace the humble twist of lemon?
The fragrances: Cherry Blossom and Mandarin; Watermelon Citrus; and Pear Vanilla can also be worn as perfumes that can be licked off the wearer’s skin.
The spray-on garnishes have a light, non-stick formula made from natural ingredients and are lower in citric acid than the likes of lemons and limes.
The trio have been blended like a traditional perfume using base, mid and top notes, and feature ingredients like flowers, citrus fruit, herbs and spices.
The “floral and fruity” Cherry Blossom and Mandarin mixes a gin base with floral notes of cherry blossom and mandarin oil, and is recommended for Negronis.
The Watermelon Citrus meanwhile, blends a vodka base with tart passion fruit and fresh watermelon, and works well when sprayed on Proscecco and fruity cocktails like the Cosmopolitan.
Finally, the aromatic Pear Vanilla marries a vodka and Calvados base with juicy pear and rich vanilla, and comes to life when spritzed on an Espresso Martini or warming brandy.
“Indulging in a cocktail at home should be as equally playful and experimental as going to a cocktail bar.
“We created these edible fragrances to facilitate this opportunity by reimagining the classic bar tool – the atomiser – for the home,” said Smith & Sinclair’s managing director, Melanie Goldsmith.
“To give it an edge, we looked to the beauty world for inspiration to create flavours that deliver mind-blowing scents whether sipped or licked off,” she added. The trio have gone on sale Harvey Nichols priced at £19.99 for 50ml.
