YouTuber orders two waters and leaves $10k tip

A YouTube star known for carrying out extreme acts of generosity has left a US$10,000 tip, in cash, at a restaurant in North Carolina after ordering just two waters.

Known as “MrBeast”, aka Jimmy Donaldson, the You Tuber is known for posting videos in which he carries out extreme acts of generosity.

His latest target was a restaurant in North Caroline, Sup Dogs. Having ordered two glasses of water, and taking only a few sips, the man left the restaurant, leaving $10,000 in cash on the table.

The waitress, Alaina Custer, 20, was the recipient of the generous tip, which came with a note that read: “Thanks for the delicious water,” according to the Raleigh News & Observer.

Donaldson has nearly 9 million subscribers to his video channel, in which he has also documented tipping $10,000 to a pizza delivery driver and $30,000 to random Twitch streamers, according to Newsweek.

“He said he wants everyone to know that good things still happen to good people,” Sup Dogs owner Brett Oliverio told WRAL-TV. “I thought it was pretty cool. I think he wanted to make someone’s day and wanted to get that wow factor.”

A video crew filmed Custer’s reaction as she picked up the money.

“I literally didn’t think it was real,” Custer told The News & Observer. “I picked it up and it was a giant stack of hundreds. I was shaking and just kept asking Brett, ‘What is this?’ I thought someone was playing a joke on me.”

Custer, a student at East Carolina University, is sharing her tip with co-workers, taking only $800 of the $10,000 tip, leaving the rest to be split between co-workers.
