London brewery Fourpure collaborates with Patty&Bun on craft lager
South London craft brewery Fourpure has collaborated with Burger restaurant group Patty & Bun to brew a Pilsner exclusive to the chain’s sites.
The Pilsner, which will be available at Patty&Bun’s 12 London sites and at its outpost on Brighton’s Ship Street, comes with “a spicy aroma that brings out the EPIC meaty taste of Patty’s burgers.”
It is not the first time the brewer, recently bought out by Australian beverage giant Lions, has collaborated with members of London’s foodie world.
In 2014, chef Michel Roux Jr of the multi Michelin-starred Roux restaurant empire held a competition to create a beer for Le Gavroche’s menu, which Fourpure entered and ultimately won with a beer flavoured with pink grapefruit zest, Sicilian Navelina orange zest and coriander seeds.
Fourpure is based at the southernmost end of the Bermondsey Beer Mile — a stretch of railroad arches between South Bermondsey and London Bridge train stations housing a number of London’s better-known microbreweries. Lager, including its own Pils and Indy Lager beers, account for around one third of its overall production.
Co-founders Dan and Tom Lowe spent £2.5 million on a new, expanded brewing facility back in February, giving the business a 400% boost in its production and storage capacity.
At the time, Daniel said the brewer was looking to increase its footprint in the US, having partnered with Crafted Exports, a New York-based importer, to launch its beers on the east coast of the United States in January.
Since then Australian food and beverage company Lion, which is a subsidiary of Japanese drinks giant Kirin, acquired a 100% stake in Fourpure for an undisclosed sum in July.
