First pop-up wine shop opens at CDG
France’s leading airport, Charles de Gaulle, is getting its first pop-up wine shop in partnership with AdVini and Lagardère Travel Retail.
Opened on 31 August in terminal 2E at the Paris airport, the ‘Expérience des Terroirs’ was formally inaugurated on 4 September.
Lasting until 1 October, the shop will feature wines from Burgundy, the Rhône, Provence, Languedoc, Roussillon, Cahors and Bordeaux, which will not only be available to buy but also taste during themed tastings being conducted by the likes of Andréas Larsson, Fabrice Sommier and Iain Munson MW.
“This project was born during a meeting with ADP in the heart of the vineyards. Aware of the wine sector’s potential and interest in this area, we began to imagine an iconic space that would express French craftsmanship,” explained Jean-Pierre Durand, director of Strategic Marketing and Communication at AdVini.
The wine and spirits category in Travel Retail is now the second largest sales category overall after perfumes and cosmetics, generating €11.4 billion in 2017, a rise of 8.5% over 2016.
