Almaviva 2016 released
The rush of non-Bordeaux labels coming out of La Place continues this morning with the release of the 2016 Almaviva.
The new vintage is being offered by négoce for €87 per bottle, an increase of 11.5% on the 2015 price.
The wine is therefore being offered for around £1,116 per dozen by merchants, which is a rise of 16% (in sterling terms) on the 2015 price of £960.
The wine has garnered a 97 point score from James Suckling who called it “very fine”.
Suckling had granted the 2015 a ‘perfect’ 100-point score however and both the 2015 and 2016 vintages are available at about the same price.
The 2014 and 2010 vintages meanwhile have the same score as the 2016 and aren’t much more expensive and the 2013 is a shade cheaper.
Both the Opus One 2015 and Masseto 2015 have been sold with some success due to their compelling releases – whether it will be the same for Almaviva only time will tell.
