New book: The Home Bar
A new book by drinks writer Henry Jeffreys offers readers a guide to ‘Designing, Equipping and Stocking your own Bar’.
Called The Home Bar, the book charts the cultural history of drinking and bar design and then offers advice on building a bar or drinks cabinet in one’s own home, covering everything from the ingredients needed for various drinks to how to make and store ice and the right sort of cocktail kits required.
The book also features 30 recipes for cocktails and aperitifs ranging from classics to some of the more ‘avant garde’ for those who wish to test their skills.
Having received praise for his first book Empire of Booze, The Home Bar has been similarly well received.
The Telegraph’s drinks writer, Victoria Moore, said: “A thoroughly splendid and very persuasive paean to the glories of the home bar. If you have secretly dreamed of building a bar inside your house, then you need this book.”
Whisky writer Ian Buxton meanwhile, noted: “Inspirational and practical in equal measures, with a dash of humour thrown in, Henry Jeffreys provides the ultimate guide to the home bar. Stock up, because if you build it they will surely come!”
