The Corinthia’s Bassoon Bar gets a Sager + Wilde makeover
Marcis Dzelzainis and Michael Sager of Sager + Wilde have partnered with the Corinthia hotel in central London on a new cocktail menu and Champagne list at its Bassoon Bar.
Marcis Dzelzainis of Sager + Wilde has been brought in to run the Bassoon Bar at the Corinthia hotel in Westminster
Sager + Wilde’s mixology maestro Marcis Dzelzainis will take over the Bassoon Bar at the five-star Corinthia hotel in Westminster next month, relaunching the bar with a new cocktail menu created by Joshua Joyce of Satan’s Whiskers and the Beaufort Bar at The Savoy.
The cocktails are inspired by New Orleans classics reimagined using modern techniques, while the new funk and soul driven music programme has been spearheaded by Simon Eltringham of The Sonic Emporium.
In addition to stripped back serves that focus on flavour, the Bassoon Bar will also benefit from a new Champagne menu curated by Sager + Wilde’s co-founder, Michael Sager.
The collaboration between Dzelzainis and the Bassoon Bar developed through a friendship between him and the hotel’s food & beverage director Benjamin Hofer, who met while Dzelzainis was working at Satan’s Whiskers in Bethnal Green.
“Bringing the independent spirit of Sager + Wilde in East London with me, I’ve worked hard to keep true to my own style of bartending and hosting while reflecting the style of Corinthia at the Bassoon Bar,” Dzelzainis said.
Hoping to become a dining destination for Londoners, the Corinthia will open a restaurant run by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge in September.
