Sager + Wilde’s Charlotte to open own wine bar
Charlotte Wilde, co-founder of game changing Hoxton wine bar Sager + Wilde, is to open her own solo venture called Darling in Hackney.

As reported by Eater, Wilde will take over the site of dim sum restaurant Shanghai on Kingsland Road in east London and wants the space to serve as a creative hub during the day.
Built in 1910 the 4,000 square foot space, which started life as the F Cooke pie and mash shop, features original tiling and stained glass domes.
According to Eater, Darling will be available for private hire during the day and will serve as a workspace, photo studio and shoot location.
The bar will serve simple seasonal dishes and bar snacks devised by Dan Wilson, formerly of Dandy restaurant in Newington Green
Darling, backed in part by Andy Bird of Happiness Forgets, is expected to open in September, while the workspaces are slated to be ready early next year.
While sticking to her wine roots, Wilde will also go big on cocktails at Darling, and has asked Tom Soden of Nine Lives to curate the cocktail offering.
The bar will also sell a range of ready to drink pre-mixed cocktails.
Charlotte Wilde and Michael Sager changed London’s wine game in the summer of 2013 with the launch of Sager + Wilde on Hackney Road, which breathed life and energy into the capital’s rather boring wine bar scene.
The duo were married at the time but have since gone their separate ways.
Serving a killer selection of wines both by the glass and bottle, mark-ups on the fine wines are kept deliberately at Sager + Wilde low to encourage people to trade up.
The success of the original Sager + Wilde spawned the opening of Mission in Bethnal Green, which has since changed its name to Sager + Wilde Paradise Row to bring the two sites under the same brand name.
Michael Sager also has his own restaurant and wine bar project in the pipeline called Fare Bar + Canteen in Clerkenwell, which will serve 250 wines by the bottle in addition to wines, beers and cocktails on tap.
