HDH sales up 42% in H1
Fine wine sales at US auctioneer Hart Davis Hart are up 42% in the first half of the year with 100% of lots offered having been sold.
A recent two-day sale boosted HDH’s total sales to US$34.4 million so far this year. All 11,394 lots it has offered have been sold and it is the leading wine auction house in the US.
The recent sale realised $7.1m and featured 2,248 lots, 65% of them selling above their high estimates.
Bidding for the large Burgundy consignment was particularly strong, the 754 lots making a combined $2.8m.
Twelve bottles of 1991 Chambertin from Domaine Leroy made a record $95,600 and there was competitive bidding for six magnums of 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St Jacques from Armand Rousseau; six bottles of 1990 La Tâche and three bottles of 2006 Romanée-Conti from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Red Bordeaux was also in great demand, making $2.6m from the 728 lots consigned with 1982 Lafleur, Lafite and Cheval Blanc and 2005 Petrus being particular highlights.
