Whitley Neill trials drinkable gin mist in London

Gin producer Whitley Neill is trialling a drinkable gin mist across several locations in London this weekend, using mechanical orbs designed by experiential events company Lick Me I’m Delicious that vaporise gin.

Whitley Neill, which is owned by Halewood Wines and Spirits, is installing the gin orbs filled with different variants of its gin in three London bars to celebration World Gin Day this Saturday (9 June).

The vaporised gins will include Whitley Neill London Dry Gin (with South African inspired botanicals including Baobab and Cape Gooseberry), Whitley Neill Raspberry and Whitley Neill Rhubarb and Ginger which can be found at The Grafton, the London Cocktail Club and Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen respectively.

The mechanical orbs use ultrasonic vaporisation to create a steam of mist that can be sucked up through a straw.

Claiming to contain zero calories, the distiller will roll out more of the orbs throughout the UK if they prove a hit over the weekend.

Adam Georgiou, brand manager at Whitley Neill, said: “Whitley Neill Gin leads the way when it comes to ‘ginnovation’ and the orbs create a way for people to try the different flavours in its purest form – with an intense cloud of floating inhalable mist.”

In 2015, Bompass & Parr also experimented with alcohol mists, creating “the world’s first breathable cocktail bar” in London’s Borough Market.

Called “Alcoholic Architecture”, the pop-up bar converted spirits and mixers into clouds of mist with the help of humidifiers.
