Burgundies to lead Bonhams London sale

Top red and white Burgundy, much consigned from the cellar of a Michelin-starred restaurant, will lead Bonhams’ London fine wine sale this month.

Taking place on 24 May, the sale will feature wines from the great Burgundian domaines including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Armand Rousseau, René Engel, Domaine Roulet, Leflaive, Fourrier, Roumier, Comte Lafond, Denis Bachelet and Domaine Dauvissat among others.

The wines have largely been consigned from an unnamed Michelin-starred restaurant in the city, a “highly respected” merchant and a wine investment fund.

Particular highlights include:

• Two bottles of 1959 La Tâche (£1,500-1,700 apiece)
• Four bottles of 1976 Romanée-Conti (£4,500-5,500 apiece)
• Twelve bottles of 1999 Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Bèze (£13,000-16,000)
• Six bottles of 2002 René Engel Grands Echézeaux (£3,000-3,800)
• Six bottles of 2011 Comte Georges de Vogüé (£1,700-2,000)
• Twelve bottles of 2005 Domaine Roulot Meursault Luchets (£1,800-2,000)
• Six bottles of 2010 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet

Other top labels available at the sale include a case of 1970 Château Latour, a magnum of 2000 Le Pin and a case of 1976 Château d”Yquem.
