WineGB and Bloomsbury Wine Co. confirmed for The City Wine Show

The national body for the English and Welsh wine industry WineGB and London wine supplier Bloomsbury Wine Company have confirmed their attendance at The City Wine Show, taking place on 13 and 14 April.

The newly formed national body for the English and Welsh wine, Wines of Great Britain (WineGB), will be at this year’s show showcasing the best of British.

With UK winemakers releasing a record number of bottles into the market last year and retailers and the on-trade reporting growing sales, English and Welsh wine is certainly going places.

Returning this year is English Wine Week, a national campaign which brings together vineyards, retailers and restaurants to host promotions and activities across the country. This year, English Wine Week will take place from Sunday 28 May to Sunday 5 June.

Joining WineGB on its stand will be Devon winery Lyme Bay, Sussex winery Off The Line Vineyard and wine tour operator English Wine Tasting Tours.

Joining WineGB is Champagne and fine wine specialist Bloomsbury Wine Company, who is showcasing 13 wines from its main partner, Vignobles Michel Gonet, Champagne producers from Mesnil-sur-Oger. As well as Champagne, the producer also makes a range of wines from the Pessac-Léognan and Graves de Vayres regions of Bordeaux.

Wines on show include Michel Gonet Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru, 2010; Chateau Haut-Bacalan Rouge 2010 and Ratafia 1996 dessert wine.

What’s happening at this year’s City Wine Show?

Like last year, there will be a selection of Prestige Masterclasses featuring the likes of Pol Roger, E&J Gallo and iDealwine, and hosted by editor-in-chief of the drinks business, Patrick Schmitt MW.

As well as exhibitor stands, guests can sample the latest releases in our New Product Zone and taste hundreds of award-winning wines in the Discovery Zone.

Official cheese providers to the Queen, Paxton and Whitfield, will once again be offering the ideal accompaniment to all the wine, while guests will be rewarded with a free G&T from the Gin and Tonic Bar upon entry.

This year the official charity of the show is the brilliant Walkabout Foundation, which provides wheelchairs to disadvantaged communities in developing countries.

More exhibitors will be confirmed in the run up to the show, with Champagne house Piper Heidsieck, online wine auctioneer iDealwine and Argentine winery Viñalba already announced.
