Makar Gin confirms distribution deal with Halewood
Halewood Wines & Spirits and The Glasgow Distillery Company, the producer of Makar Gin, have confirmed a new distribution deal which will see the distillery’s gins and vodka secure new on- and off-trade channels.
Known for its Makar Gin and G52 Urban Vodka, The Glasgow Distillery, founded in 2014, is the city’s first independent distillery since 1902.
The deal will see the Scottish distillery secure “new routes to market in both the on- and off-trade” in the UK and Ireland.
Liam Hughes, CEO and co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery Company, said: “We’ve been looking for the right distribution partner for a number of years and a few of us were familiar with the exceptional work ethic and methods of Halewood’s team.
“The way Halewood has transformed its offering, as well as the scale and quality of its sales force and logistics impressed us, so we knew very quickly during discussions that it was the perfect partner to help take our business forward.
“Working with Halewood gives us an exciting opportunity to widen the net and deliver our products to the UK and Ireland in both the on- and off-trade.”
The Glasgow Distillery joins spirits brands including Liverpool Gin, City of London Distillery, Marylebone Gin, J.J. Whitley and Dead Man’s Fingers rum within the Halewood portfolio.
John Bradbury, UK managing director at Halewood Wines & Spirits, said: “With the addition of Makar Gin into our portfolio, we are fast becoming the go-to premium craft gin distributor in the country.”
The Glasgow Distillery recently unveiled 1770 Scotch whisky – the first single malt created at an independent Glasgow distillery for more than 100 years.
