Bidding opens on MW Endowment Fund auction

Online bidding has now opened on over 100 lots of fine wine and unique wine experiences that are being auctioned to benefit the Institute of Masters of Wine Endowment Fund.

Run by Bonhams, the bidding will remain open until Tuesday 21 November while some of the lots will also go under the hammer at a live auction on 16 November.

Among the lots being sold online are: a 12-bottle case of Guigal’s ‘LaLas’ (pictured), dinner for six with Jancis Robinson MW and her husband (the Financial Times’ restaurant critic) Nick Lander and a place on the Fine World Bootcamp at La Verrière in the Southern Rhône – an immersion course on all aspects of wine.

Lots at the live auction meanwhile include: a VIP trip to Bollinger including accommodation at Les Crayeres in Reims, a three-day trip to Burgundy in the company of experts Jasper Morris MW, Patrick McGrath MW and David Roberts MW and a private tasting of Screaming Eagles’ wines (including its hyper-rare Sauvignon Blanc) in a location of the winning bidder’s choice anywhere in the world.

The IMW’s chairwoman, Jane Masters MW, said: “Thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters we are able to stage this once in a lifetime event to extend our work across the globe. Membership of the Institute is a badge of excellence recognised everywhere and the Endowment Fund will help us support our existing members more effectively, and, crucially, to encourage the Masters of Wine of the future.”
