TFWA announces social events line-up

The events programme for the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes has been announced, which includes a regatta, charity run and gala dinner.

Attendees celebrate after last year’s regatta

With over 12,000 visiting and exhibiting professionals due to attend the event, which runs from 1-6 October, the social events provide the ideal opportunity to network at duty free and travel retail’s annual global gathering.

Acting as a global shop window for premium brands, the event kicks off with a cocktail party at Carlton Beach at 7.30pm on Sunday 1 October, which will end with a firework display over the bay.

From Monday to Thursday, DJs will provide after-hours fun at The Scene, a laid-back beach venue.

The show will finish in style with Le Premium Evening, a black tie soirée held at Port Canto on Thursday 5 October, which will include a performance from an as yet unnamed famous singer, alongside a gala dinner that kicks off at 8pm.

Among the other events taking place during the show is a golf tournament held in partnership with Estée Lauder at the Cannes Mandelieu Golf Club.

Athletic attendees can also take part in a charity run along Cannes’ famous Croisette at 8.30am on Sunday 1 October, which begins beginning in front of the Carlton Hotel.

Back by popular demand, the regatta will take place in the Bay of Cannes at 8.30am, during which participants will enjoy a picnic lunch on board and a post race swim.

Invitees can also enjoy morning yoga sessions and a pétanque tournament at Allée de la Liberté Charles de Gaulle in front of the Palais des Festivals.

“We are delighted to be able to offer such a varied calendar of social events this year at TFWA World Exhibition & Conference,” said Erik Juul-Mortensen, president of TFWA.

“These are always highly popular and we are looking forward to meeting newcomers as well as seeing well-known faces,” he added.

The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will take place at the Palais des Festival in Cannes from 1 to 6 October.

Pre-registration is open at www.tfwa.com until 7 September.
