La Maison Cointreau Cocktail Competition debuts in HK
The La Maison Cointreau Cocktail Competition, organised by the French spirits group Rémy Cointreau, is making its debut in Hong Kong, offering the city’s top bartenders to battle it out for a chance to compete in the regional finals.
Now in its fourth year, the competition aims to bring together Asia’s, “most visionary mixologists to create, wow and inspire” with the brand’s products including Cointreau, Rémy Martin, Mount Gay, Bruichladdich and The Botanist, the company has announced.
Different from other bartending competitions, the La Maison Cointreau bartending competition targets only countries within the Asia-Pacific region, according to Jay Khan, Rémy Cointreau brand ambassador for Hong Kong and Macau.
Contestants in Hong Kong must submit an interpreted cocktail recipe based on an iconic classic cocktail, White Lady, on or before 18 August.
The cocktail will be judged on three crucial elements: flavour, aesthetic and story, by a few of Hong Kong’s top food and beverage personalities the week following the submission deadline, explained Khan.
The top 12 bartenders will be announced during the last week of August 2017 and move into the finals held on 11 September at Happy Paradise. The winner will represent Hong Kong in the Asia finals between 23 and 26 October 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition to Hong Kong, some of the other participating countries include: Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam.
