New man in the Moon
Will Ricker opens restaurant in former theatre pub
WILL RICKER, the man behind e&o, Cicada and the Great Eastern Dining Room, has opened a fourth London Restaurant. It is called Eight Over Eight, which is a Chinese proverb meaning "lucky forever", and can be found at 392 King’s Road, Chelsea on the site of the former Man in the Moon theatre pub.
The ethos is meant to be minimalist but comfortable and the food spans South East Asia with an emphasis on China and in particular Shanghai. The head chef is Neil Whitney, who recently worked at I-Thai.
Eight Over Eight’s cocktails also have an Oriental slant, incorporating various Asian herbs such as coriander and Thai basil and the wine list leans towards accommodate the powerful Asian flavours.
The restaurant seats 95, the bar can contain up to 60 and there is a private dining room for up to 14 in the lower ground area. The manager is Neil Warkington, formerly at the Great Eastern Dining Room.
