HDH holds on to US market lead
Hart Davis Hart has said it has retained its position as the leading fine wine auctioneer in the US in the first part of the year.
The house said it has sold every single one of the 8,322 lots that have come up for sale so far this year, for a total of US$24 million. In addition, HDH has made a further $3.5m through its online wine sales.
The Chicago-based company ended its first half of the year with a sale that made $6m and saw especially strong bidding for lots of fine Burgundy such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leflaive, Georges Roumier, Armand Rousseau and Coche-Dury as well as Rhône and Spanish labels.
HDH said in a statement: “As the number one wine auction house in the US for the past five years, HDH has a proven track record of excellence, and continues to exceed its competition in terms of market share, auction size and sell-through rate.”
Apart from an online sale this July, HDH’s auctions will resume again this September.
