Taylor’s Port receives Royal Warrant

Taylor’s Port, currently celebrating its 325^th anniversary, becomes the second port supplier to gain a Royal Warrant this month.

Taylor’s Port has been awarded with the Royal Warrant of Appointment as a supplier of Port Wines to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Although the company benefits from the privileges associated with the accolade, the warrant itself was granted to the managing director, Adrian Bridge, who will ‘represent the company in its communications with the Royal Household.’

Following the announcement, Adrian Bridge commented: “The granting of the Royal Warrant coincides with Taylor’s 325th anniversary and I can think of no better way to mark this important milestone in our company’s long and distinguished history.”

“I would like to congratulate our team on maintaining the standards of excellence which have allowed us to be awarded this important recognition.”

Dating back to 1692, Taylor’s bought Lugar das Lages, the first British-owned estate in the Douro, in 1744. The Port House, Casa dos Alambiques, briefly served as a field hospital for troops commanded by General Wellesley (who later became the Duke of Wellington) during the Peninsula War.

The company has retained its family ties throughout its 325-year history and is today known for its vintage and cask-aged ports. It follows news that Graham’s Port was also honoured with a warrant this month.
