Friarwood to distribute Capensis in the UK
Jackson Family Wines has appointed Friarwood Fine Wines as its partner for the exclusive distribution of its top-end South African Chardonnay, Capensis, in the UK.
Winemaker Graham Weerts and world-renowned vineyard manager Rosa Kruger have selected some of the finest Chardonnay vineyards within the Western Cape to create Capensis
“I am delighted that our esteemed Capensis winery will be distributed through Friarwood,” said Lori Buchanan, senior sales director for Europe & the Middle East. “I am excited to partner with such an exceptional distributor in the UK and feel confident that this very fine wine, with its beguiling story and expressive attributes, will appeal to top restaurants, exclusive wine bars and independent retailers alike.”
Friarwood turns 50 this year, and to celebrate they have been developing their portfolio with new, premium wines and Capensis is one of them.
Friarwood’s head buyer Auriane d’Aramon said: “We are so excited to count Capensis among our exclusive producers, we think that it is a perfect addition to our ever-growing portfolio, which has sought several new producers joining in the last few months. The high-quality Chardonnay fits with our plans for the future of Friarwood. It is a great way to demonstrate Friarwood’s growth in the last 50 years and our focus on wines worth discovering.”
Latin for ‘cape’, Capensis is produced in South Africa, one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world. The ancient soils and historic vineyards of Stellenbosch, Overberg and Robertson are the foundation for Capensis.
Winemaker Graham Weerts and world-renowned vineyard manager Rosa Kruger have selected some of the finest Chardonnay vineyards within the Western Cape to create the wine, which was launched in July 2015 with the 2013 vintage.
