Pop legend Rick Astley creates his own beer

80s pop sensation Rick Astley has teamed up with Danish brewer Mikkeller to create what he’s described as a “fruity pilsner lager”.

Speaking to Weekend magazine, Astley said: “I enjoy a beer with friends and I’m hoping to sell my own brand soon. I’ve been working with the Mikkeller brewery in Copenhagen, which was founded 10 years ago by a teacher who made his own beer at home.

“Mikkeller beer is quite experimental and they’ve been sending me various bottles to sample. All I need now is a name for it.”

Other beers on offer at the brewery, set up by former teacher Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, include Beer Geek Brunch, The Stig Gose to Hell, and Tiger Baby.

Astley released his first album in 11 years, 50, in 2016. His biggest hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up”, was number one in 25 countries when it was first released in 1987.
