Gin Jubilee hits HK
Singapore’s biggest gin festival, Gin Jubilee has expanded to include events in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh and Bangkok all in honour of the humble gin and tonic.
Premium tonic brand, East Imperial is working with Hong Kong’s fizzing local bar scene and collaborating with craft spirits distributor Proof & Company to present the Hong Kong Jubilee over five days from 30 August to 3 September.
The festival will encompass a city-wide ‘Best Gin & Tonic’ competition for 18 local bars and a series of masterclasses and live stream distillery visits where guests can roam around the St. George Spirits distillery in San Francisco.
Brands unique to Hong Kong include Aviation from Portland in Oregon; Four Pillars from the Yara Valley in Australia and iconic Brit brand,Tanqueray No. Ten.
The Gin Lane closing party will showcase a series of pop up bars and gin brands at Haven Street in Causeway Bay, recreated to look like the famous Gin Lane Street Party which is held annually in Keong Saik, Singapore.
Finally, in keeping with Hong Kong’s love of social media, the most creative ‘Ginstagram’ post about the Gin Jubilee will net its poster a two-day trip to the Singapore Jubilee grand finale in November.
“We are very excited to host the first Hong Kong Gin Jubilee this year. It will be great to bring the community and consumers together in celebration of the iconic Gin & Tonic,” said Jeremy Moreau, general manager of Proof & Company.
“This will also be an opportunity for Hong Kong bars to flex some muscles and compare their drinks to some of the best bars in the region.”
After three successful jubilees in Singapore since 2013, Gin Jubilee has now expanded its festivities to include events in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh and Bangkok.
