Top 10 wines in the US press

This week’s top 10 wines doing the rounds in the US press.

Caiarossa Pergolaia

Caiarossa is a biodynamic winery located in Italy in the quiet hillside town of Riparbella in the Pisa province just north of Bolgheri. Located off the coast of Tuscany, Caiarossa has a strong connection to France as its sister properties are two Grands Crus Classés in Margaux, Bordeaux: Château Giscours and Château du Tertre, says Napa Valley Register‘s Allison Levine.

Ramey Sonoma Coast chardonnay

Pressing the whole clusters for delicacy. Native-yeast and full native malolactic fermentation take place in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. After aging 12 months in 20% new French and Hungarian oak barrels (François Frères and Demptos), this Chardonnay is fined and stabilized in tank during the following harvest.

2015 Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

The Wall Street Journal describes this wine as a zingy white with notes of citrus and tropical fruit.

2014 Anselmo Mendes Alvarinho Contacto

A playful Spanish Albariño that has garnered a lot of attention for itself recently. Grown just across the border from Portugal, it can boast to be a zesty, bone-dry white from one of Vinho Verde’s most talented producers.

Cyril Fhal of Clos du Rouge Gorge

The Wall Street Journal say Fhal is a rising star in a group that’s revolutionising the wines of the region. His wines are sophisticated and wild—examples of the natural winemaking at its best.

2015 Charles Gonnet Chignin Vin de Savoie Rosé

France’s Savoie region may be better known as a ski resort, but its wines are fast becoming a big draw for tourists. A floral Rosè with a dry finish.

Nino Franco Prosecco Rustico

An elegant Nino Franco Prosecco Rustico from Italy’s prestigious Valdobbiadene is pale, dry and accompanied by fine and persistent bubbles.

2014 Casa Castillo El Molar

A mysterious and full-bodied red from Spain, it’s marked by notes of red and black fruit and spice, it has a juicy mid-palate and a truly toothsome acidity.

Castellroig Cava Brut Rosat

Coming from renowned cava producer Castellroig, this zesty, dry, red-berry-inflected palate is a true delight to drink.
