Harvey Nichols launches Wallpaper* cocktail bar
Harvey Nichols has teamed up with design and lifestyle magazine Wallpaper* to create a new all-day dining restaurant and cocktail bar as part of a new “concept space” within its menswear department in Knightsbridge.
The Wallpaper* Bar + Kitchen opened to customers on 11 May and sits within the department store’s Project 109, an experimental space within its new menswear department that will house the latest in lifestyle brands and gifts and host art installations and pop ups.
From its menu and staff uniforms to artwork and furniture, particular attention has been paid to the design of the venue, which also incorporates Wallpaper* magazines and Wallpaper* City Guides.
The Wallpaper* Bar + Kitchen at Harvey Nichols features an all-day dining menu with a range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. In the evening the space will transform into an intimate bar, where customers will be able to order cocktails, wines, sparkling wines and craft beers, and a selection of light dishes.
Its cocktail menu will include serves crafted by some of the world’s best bartenders, who have put forward their recipes to the venture. They include Grocery & Grog Old Fashioned from the Dead Rabbit in New York by Jack McGarry; the Scented Negroni from Dry Martini in Barcelona by Javier de las Meulas; and the Paper Anniversary by Rémy Savage at Little Red Door in Paris.
The partnership will expand to include co-hosted events and installations which tie in with Harvey Nichols’ seasonal or Project 109 themes and dedicated services, which will include independent UK-based AONO barbershop offering grooming services and treatments.
“The Wallpaper* Bar + Kitchen residency arrives at Harvey Nichols at the perfect time – it cements the world famous luxury retailer’s position at the cutting edge of contemporary retail and also heralds the 20th anniversary of Wallpaper* magazine,” said Tony Chambers, editor-in-chief of Wallpaper*. “We look forward to a series of events and social occasions with our new partner in the Knightsbridge space, as Wallpaper* celebrates this important milestone.”
Wallpaper• was launched in 1996 by Canadian journalist Tyler Brûlé and Austrian journalist Alexander Geringer in London.
