Armit adds Champagne Geoffroy to portfolio
Armit Wines has announced the addition of the highly respected grower Champagne agency Champagne Geoffroy to its portfolio.

Champagne Geoffroy is a 14-hectares family domaine from the Vallée de la Marne which is owned and run by fifth-generation grower Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy.
The domaine is based in Aÿ, although most of its vineyards are in Cumières. Geoffroy’s holdings comprise 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. The vines average about 20 years of age, with the oldest from 1926.
Champagne Geoffroy produces a zero-dosage NV Pureté; aa pinot-dominant vintage Empreinte; a chardonnay-dominant vintage Volupté; and two rosés (one made by the saignée method and one blended), for which the winery is particularly well known.
Geoffroy also makes a unique single-vineyard field blend, Houtrants, which is a co-plantation of every grape permitted in Champagne, made in minute quantities.
Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy vinifies each of his 45 parcels separately in order to provide as diverse a combination of wines as possible for blending. A portion of the wines are vinified in wood of various sizes. Malolactic fermentation is generally avoided.
“I was thrilled to discover Champagne Geoffroy’s wonderful wines,” said Edwina Watson, buyer at Armit Wines.
“Jean-Baptiste is an extremely energetic, charismatic and meticulous winemaker who is committed to creating vibrant, thrilling, fruity Champagnes of great vineyard character.
“I am very proud that Armit Wines now represents such a superb producer from the Vallée de la Marne. The growers’ Champagne category has tremendous appeal and Champagne Geoffroy represents everything there is to enjoy from a quality-conscious and highly individual grower.”
Jean-Baptise Geoffroy added: “I am very pleased to begin a long-lasting relationship with Armit Wines, who have consistently represented some of the best wineries in the world.
“I am very happy to join Champagne Gimonnet as part of their unrivalled portfolio and I look forward promoting my winery and our special region with them.”
The wines will be available in the UK from 15 May.
Champagne Geoffroy will be at Armit’s stand (W35) at the London Wine Trade Fair from 2-5 May.
