George Clooney launches spirits import company

Hollywood A-lister George Clooney is expanding his Casamigos premium Tequila brand by launching the Casamigos Spirits Company and expanding its sales team across the US, with ambitions of seeing the brand reach “iconic status”.

Founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Michael Meldman in 2013, Casamigos Tequila includes a range of small batch, ultra-premium Tequila featuring a Blanco, Reposado and Añejo expressions. Said to be the fastest-growing ultra-premium Tequila in the US, from January the Casamigos Spirits Company will become the brand’s exclusive importer, with Lee Einsidler, former CEO of Sidney Frank Importing Company, set to head up the new company.

“Casamigos has all the necessary ingredients for tremendous success and is the reason it has become the fastest growing premium tequila in the country: the best tasting, smoothest tequila, perfect package design, grassroots popularity, critical acclaim, and enormously talented and dedicated owners and team behind it,” said Einsidler. Adam Rosen, executive vice-president of Sidney Frank Importing Company, and Olivier Bugat, vice-president of Sidney Frank Importing Company, will also help lead the team at Casamigos Spirits Company. The company plans to further expand its sales team over the coming months.

Privately owned by longtime friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, Casamigos Tequilas are made from 100% Blue Weber agaves grown in Jalisco. Since launching in the US in January 2013, Casamigos Tequila has expanded into Canada, the UK, the Bahamas, Spain, and Hong Kong.

Casamigos Tequila will continue to be distributed by Cellar Trends in the UK and carries an RRP of £49.99 for the Blanco, £54.99 for the Reposado and £59.99 for the Añejo.
