Wimbledon to become beer brewing hub

Wimbledon is to become a training hub for aspiring brewers with Brewlab, training provider for the international brewing industry, set to expand its operation to Wimbledon Brewery.

Based in south west London, the Wimbledon Brewery will initially provide two courses at its facility for aspiring brew masters; Craft Brew Quality and International Start-up Brewing.

Wimbledon Brewery started production of cask beer in July of this year, overseen by master brewer Derek Prentice. Its 30-barrel brewhouse has been built using modern materials and state-of-the-art engineering, but is built for traditional brewing methods, offering the ideal training environment for up and coming brewers.

“Since its inception in 1986, Brewlab has provided exceptional training to brewers and brewery founders from around the world, myself included”, said Mark Gordon, founder of The Wimbledon Brewery. “We are proud to be associated with their expansion.”

The British Beer and Pub Association estimates there to be more than 1,400 breweries in Britain, with London now boasting more breweries than any other city in the world with more than 80. Consequently, there is a rising demand for commercial brewing courses in the UK.

“Brewlab looks forward to providing opportunities for high quality training at the Wimbledon Brewery, using the extensive facilities on site as examples of what can be achieved in today’s vibrant brewing industry”, said Dr Keith Thomas, founder of Brewlab.

Those interested in booking a course should contact Brewlab directly on 0191 549 9450.
