Wine helps twins to record milestone
The world’s oldest living twins have attributed their longevity to enjoying a glass of good quality wine every day – and never marrying.

Belgian brothers Pieter and Paulus Langerock recently celebrated their 102nd birthday with a glass of Bordeaux, their daily tipple of choice.
Despite reaching such a venerable age, the pair denied sticking to a particularly healthy lifestyle. “We never took care of our health,” Paulus told German television channel RTL. “Sometimes we drank a whole bottle of whisky, just the two of us, between 5pm and 2am.”
They revealed their secret as being “A lifetime of hard work, punctuality, and a glass of good red wine,” according to Belgian news site Het Laatste Nieuws. In addition, Paulus advised Reuters, “Don’t waste your time fooling around, don’t eat too much and don’t run after women.”
The brothers, who currently share a room in their nursing home, have lived together almost their entire lives and never married on the grounds that neither approved of the other’s choice of wife.
The duo are not the only people to name wine as part of the secret to a long life. Earlier this year one 99-year-old resident of a Chinese village where most people live into their 90s revealed that he drinks more than 10 kilograms of rice wine every month.
